10 things I’ve learned from running that don’t have anything to do with running

Since I started running again last year, I’ve learned a lot about running. But here are some things I’ve learned that have nothing to do with running:

  1. Rest days are just as important as run days
  2. Learning what, how, and when to eat and drink is an important part of training
  3. Foam rolling shouldn’t be painful and is actually very helpful
  4. Running clubs are a really good way to meet positive, motivating, and inspiring people
  5. The need to chase bling is real
  6. There is a right way to pose to get a good finish line photo
  7. Runners don’t like to strength train, stretch, or cross-train…but should!
  8. “Pain is temporary, Instagram is forever.” So true.
  9. What you do after you realize your Strava didn’t record is a good predictor of your personality type
  10. And finally, perhaps the most important and fulfilling lesson I’ve learned is that running makes me stronger and more confident in all aspects of my life

I’m looking forward to learning more through running!
