It’s April and we are still waiting for spring!

It is April and Old Man Winter still has his grip on us…but I’m not complaining. The forecast was -4C (feels like -9C) today. I had 3 top layers, thick gloves, and earmuffs but I ended up being too hot because the sun was out and there wasn’t a lot of wind (unlike Wednesday night). It is actually really nice to still be running in this cold (but not too cold) weather. Runners are probably the only crazy people who don’t want the weather to warm up!

I was only supposed to do 13km today but we ran to Sunnybrook Stables to see the horsies ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ and it ended up being over 15km. Oh well, there goes my mini-tapering for tomorrow’s CN Tower Climb. I will be fine…I think.

In general, I felt good today. I kept a sub 6 min/km pace and was even able to get a PR at the “Are we there yet?” hill at the end. It helped that Jim was giving Lisa and I tips on cadence as we pushed up that hill!

Here are all the ninjas who braved the cold today.

Here’s Rhonda making her appearance.

Glad to be done Week 4 of my training! Looking forward to tomorrow’s CN Tower Climb!

Nutrition log:

  • Pre-run: banana 1 hour before (even though I was still full from last night’s huge dinner)
  • Mid-run: water
  • Post-run: 2 eggs over easy and 2 toasts (this was my attempt at eating real food post-run}
