We were runchatting with Roger today on our way back to the store. He told us that he turned 50 last year and started running with the C25K (Couch to 5k) app. He never ran before that and next week he is doing his first half marathon! This inspired me. I’ve known about this app for quite a while and have even recommended others to try it but I’ve never followed it myself. So this afternoon, I suggested for my kids to try it.
It was a rather cold and windy day to be outdoors, but my kids (and husband) were good sports. The first day of the C25K program is a 5-minute warm-up walk, followed by 8 sets of 60-second jog and 90-second walk, and ending with a 5-minute cool-down walk. By the time we were half done, we were sufficiently warmed up and the kids even took off their jackets for a bit. My kids found it fun and challenging but not too challenging. The best part: they want to do it again! 😄

I felt okay doing it even though I already ran 20km this morning. I think I would have felt even better if I didn’t eat this “wooffle” from Wooffles & Cream 30 minutes before we ran. 🤣

Strava kept on auto-pausing whenever we went from jogging to walking so I don’t think it was very accurate on the distance and pace info. Next time I will turn off auto-pause.
Just like the Ninjas, we found a waterfall too!

I hope to use this app to train my kids for the Toronto Oasis ZooRun where we will all be running the 5k together – I’m so excited!
