My kids had a birthday party this morning so I had to miss the Saturday morning MEC ninja run. The whole week I was trying to come up with ways to not miss the ninja run while still getting my kids to the party. Obviously, not letting them go to the party because I wanted to run with the ninjas was not an option. Even I have a conscience.
I came up with a couple of other ideas which would have worked including asking the birthday girl’s parents to drive my kids (they live across from us) but my husband didn’t think that was a good idea. I even thought about running with the ninjas for 30 minutes, coming home to shower, and then drive them there but that would have been really rushed.
I ended up taking my time waking up and made them pancakes with strawberries, bananas, and whipped cream for breakfast. Eating breakfast together is such a treat. We don’t get to do it very often. Then I drove them there 15 minutes early, dropped them off, drove to Vaughan Mills and ran around the mall 3 times. Win win win! I deserve the Mom of the Year award!
Because the birthday party was held at a trampoline place in the middle of an industrial area in Woodridge, I didn’t feel safe running there. So I drove to Vaughan Mills where there were lots of people going in and out of the mall, there is a sidewalk that goes around the mall, I didn’t have to think about my route and I didn’t have to worry about getting lost. I’ll admit wasn’t the most scenic run I’ve ever done but I’m glad I did it. I found some flowers which made it a bit more scenic.

And I found a moose.

I was pretty happy with my pace, especially since I wasn’t running with anyone. This is the pace that we need to maintain to be sub-55 minutes for the Sporting Life 10k tomorrow!
