Yesterday was Jim’s 4×4 Hill Hell. Here’s what I told myself at each hill.

Hill 1:

  • Only 3 more of these to go!
  • This is good practise for San Fran
  • How did that biker beat me?!
  • Last one…for now! (3 mores sets to go!)

Hill 2

  • Okay, I can do this, just 3 more
  • Misery loves company. I would never do this on my own.
  • Jim’s right beside me. I better push harder
  • Thank goodness this is the last one (of this set)

Hill 3 (which are actually stairs)

  • I’m feeling the burn!
  • Let’s take it two steps at a time
  • Did I do 3 or 4?
  • Last one – push it!

Hill 4

  • At least this is the shortest hill out of all 4 hills.
  • I can’t wait until I get to the Canadian Tire hill – it’s going to be flat compared to all these hills
  • Just TWO more!
  • LAST ONE!!

I did it!

Nutrition log:

  • Pre-run: banana, half a muffin, crackers
  • Mid-run: water
  • Post-run: salmon, potatos, Mac & cheese
