Yesterday was Jim’s 4×4 Hill Hell. Here’s what I told myself at each hill.
Hill 1:
- Only 3 more of these to go!
- This is good practise for San Fran
- How did that biker beat me?!
- Last one…for now! (3 mores sets to go!)
Hill 2
- Okay, I can do this, just 3 more
- Misery loves company. I would never do this on my own.
- Jim’s right beside me. I better push harder
- Thank goodness this is the last one (of this set)
Hill 3 (which are actually stairs)
- I’m feeling the burn!
- Let’s take it two steps at a time
- Did I do 3 or 4?
- Last one – push it!
Hill 4
- At least this is the shortest hill out of all 4 hills.
- I can’t wait until I get to the Canadian Tire hill – it’s going to be flat compared to all these hills
- Just TWO more!
- LAST ONE!!
I did it!

Nutrition log:
- Pre-run: banana, half a muffin, crackers
- Mid-run: water
- Post-run: salmon, potatos, Mac & cheese
I have experienced all of those feelings… even the cyclist passing me while towing a baby in a stroller attachment LoL.
