Don’t ask me about my weekend

I’m starting to get to the point where I feel like I’m talking about running too much, especially at work. If I were my colleagues, I would be bored of hearing about my running. But because it’s such a big part of my life, it’s hard to not talk about it.

Here are some examples of how running has come up this week:

Colleague 1: What did you do this weekend?

Me: I ran the Sporting Life 10k (and proceed to tell her how proud I was to get a PB and improve my time by 15 minutes since Sept. Since she was still listening at this point, I continued to go into a detailed account of the race, similar to what I’ve written here but if I’m honest with myself, she really wasn’t that interested. ๐Ÿ˜…)

Colleague 2: Do you want to come to an event tonight?

Me: I’m supposed to run 12k tonight but if you really need a seat-filler, I suppose I can come since I’m not meeting anyone tonight and if I do run, it will be 6 days in a row of running which is a lot even for me…blah blah blah…(this is where my colleague’s eyes glazed over because she just wanted a quick ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answer and I’ve given her a run-on paragraph. ๐Ÿ˜‚)

Colleague 3: What are you doing this weekend?

Me: I’m having a friend over for his birthday on Sunday and throwing a farewell party on Monday. Jeremy has ukulele and guitar lessons. Keith has a birthday party. Oh, and of course, I will be running… twice…What are you doing? ๐Ÿ˜…
