Jim and his whistle

Here we go again with Jim and his whistle. Wednesday night’s workout was 1 minute intervals followed by 1 minute recoveries at the track for 25 minutes. Apparently, this is how the Kenyans train. 😅

Jim told me to go at a 4:20ish pace for the intervals, which is slightly faster than my 5k race pace. I was able to keep it there for the most part while I walked during the recoveries. At one point, Jim was at my tail and heckling me to go faster. At the end of that interval, I looked at my watch and it said 3:45. I have never done such a fast pace before!

Moral of the story: Run like Jim is chasing me and constantly shouting in my ear.

I had to go to Costco after the run so Jeremy and the kids were waiting for me at the parking lot beside MEC. I got into the car all sweaty and gross. I got to Costco and I was still all sweaty and gross. I felt like everyone was staring at me and my soaking wet t-shirt with disgust. Thank goodness I didn’t bump into anyone I know!

Nutrition log:

  • Pre-run: banana bread
  • Mid-run: water
  • Post-run: water
  • Post post-run: chicken with rice, banana bread
