The last time I did a 30k race, I didn’t really train for it. I had just run The San Francisco Marathon a month before that and was recovering from a foot injury. I remember going into that race without much of a goal because I wasn’t even sure that I was going to be able to finish. We ended up finishing it in 2:54 which was way better than I had expected.
This time, I started a training plan in January and I’ve been pretty happy with my effort. I have been relatively injury-free (minus the mother of all flus after Jamaica and a minor ankle injury). I’ve done long runs, tempo runs, and intervals according to my plan. I didn’t do much hills training so that’s the only thing I wish I would have done more of but oh well. 🤷♀️ I’ve been eating well this week (at least not overeating) and my sleep could be better but it’s not worse than normal.
So I’m as ready as I will ever be!
I am looking forward to spending time with Lisa, Tracey, and Maggie this weekend. We plan to have lunch, go to the Expo, head to the hotel for the pool/hot tub, and meet up with Sally for dinner. There’s going to be a huge ninja cheer squad on Sunday which will be so awesome and we will have a post-race lunch before we send Jim and Don off to Boston.
Can’t wait for the 125th Anniversary of the Around the Bay 30k! This is happening!!
