It’s been a week since the Toronto Marathon. I was in a lot of pain on Monday. My shin felt like there were little knives inside. 😱 I went to see Dr. Gill and got another round of electroacupuncture. Thankfully, the pain gradually subsided throughout the week. By the time I saw her again on Friday, my shin just felt a bit tight but there was no pain.
I have had some time to reflect on the Toronto Marathon and while I am happy that I PB’d, I’m definitely disappointed with how it happened. This race really underscored for me that training is important but so is pre-race preparation and knowing how my body will react to different situations. Live and learn!
The ninjas ran to see the cherry blossoms at Trinity Bellwoods Park this morning but because I couldn’t run yet and had FOMO, I decided to bike there to meet them. Originally, Ravi was supposed to bike with me but turns out he didn’t want to bike downtown. He wanted to do a 3hour ride starting at 5am. No thanks. 😂 Thankfully, Katie wanted to bike with me so the 2 of us decided to go for it. It was only my 2nd ride on the bike and I ended up biking 35km downtown. Sounds impressive until I got mocked by a couple of fellow RunNinjas (i.e. Benson and Jim) that I just coasted down because it’s net downhill. I was a bit hurt but even my Strava thought this was an easy effort! 😂

We made it to the park just in time even though we got lost a couple of times and went through some muddy trails. All in all, I had a great time and I’m super grateful that Katie did it with me! I couldn’t have done it without her!

It was fun to meet up with the rest of the crew. We took a lot of photos with the blossoms.

Love this runcrew! I can’t wait to run again!
Beautiful 🌸! We had our cherry blossoms season already and it lasts only a short time…like our recovery between training cycles. 😂 Enjoy it while it lasts. Remember that rest days are part of your training too.
