It’s been a couple of weeks since I completed the RRCA run coaching certification and announced it on IG. I have had some time to think about what I want to do with it so here we are! I’ve now updated this website and I’m excited to get started with my first few athletes who are training for the Sporting Life 10k.
One of my favourite quotes is from Rosie Maclennan, Canadian Olympic Gold Medallist.
Chase the dream. Love the journey.
I started this blog as a way to document my journey when I started training for my first marathon in 2018. I think it’s so important to enjoy the journey so I am going to try to use this blog to share about my journey as a run coach and post training tips to help others discover the joy of running.
So here goes…
At the beginning of the year, a friend from work was talking about how she created a vision board for herself. I had heard about vision boards before but tbh I’ve never created one for myself because I am not a very creative person and it sounded like just another dreadful arts and crafts project.
What changed my mind was when she mentioned she created her vision board on PowerPoint. I work in PPT a lot and I often refer to making presentations as digital arts and crafts. All of a sudden, the idea of doing a vision board wasn’t as daunting anymore so the seed was planted in my head.
After I took the run coaching course, I had all these ideas so I opened a new ppt file and started to make my own digital vision board. As I carefully chose each image that deserved space on my digital vision board using Google images, I realized that it really helped to sharpened my vision. It all came down to wanting to help women discover the joy, confidence, and community that running has given me. It was that simple!
Other things that are important is to build on my current foundation of knowledge and continue to build on this foundation. I want to encourage and reinforce the importance of strength training and other non-running activities to help prevent injury. And most of all, I want to have fun!
It’s far from perfect and will probably always be a work in progress but it is enough to get me started on the journey!

I’m grateful to everyone who has sent me so much encouragement on this new adventure. Special shoutout to Julia who planted the vision board seed in my head, to Parm who offered to take photos for me so I can look the part (they turned out so well!), to Carol who agreed to be my first guinea pig, and Lisa who is always there to support me in whatever I do.
I’m excited to start working with new runners to understand their goals, create a personalized training plan, and helping them discover the joy of running. If you are interested in getting FREE 1:1 run coaching, click here to learn more!
Huzzah! Way to go Joyce! I wouldn’t be surprised if you already have more experience coaching runners than most other run coaches do. Also, arts and crafts rule ._. b
