I started running in my 20’s after a friend convinced me to sign up for a 10k. Even with very little training, I remember distinctly how I felt after the race (great!) and I knew I had caught the running bug. I went on to run a couple of half marathons but I was never very diligent or consistent with my training. I only ran for the thrill of racing and for bragging rights.
Fast forward 10 years and 2 kids later, I signed up for the 2017 CN Tower climb because my work was supporting a team and I felt obligated to go. I didn’t want to be the last one or worse, not being able to get all the way up, so I started running again in an attempt to train for the climb. The first time I went for a run, I was so out of breath I couldn’t get around the block. To my surprise, I got up the CN Tower in 22 minutes and had the same feeling as after my first 10k race. I knew I caught the running bug again (even though it wasn’t a run!)
I signed up for a 5km in the summer and then a 10km in the fall. After that, I joined a local run crew (now known as We Run North York) in October. Running with this group of runners has been the gamechanger for me. I started blogging about my training when I started to train for The San Francisco Marathon 2018, my first marathon.
I’ve run over 60 races and have had so many amazing experiences since then.
Running has changed my life.
I co-founded a runcrew called We Run North York and we welcome all runners. Come run with us!
I became a RRCA certified run coach and a Canfitpro Personal Training Specialist because I want to help other women get into running and strength training so they can experience the joy and confidence that running has given me.
