What a difference one day makes! We had perfect running weather on Thursday!
Benny and I started running together at the beginning. He is a huge foodie and fellow bagel connoisseur. Gillian had told him about my love of bagels so we started runchatting about bagels. We were so engrossed by our #bageltalk we didn’t even notice we were going a sub-6 pace for the first 2k. π He’s been on a mission to find good bagels in Toronto so I told him about the St. Viateur bagels that are sold at Metro. He was so excited that he wanted to get them that night! Turns out he is a bagel purist – he prefers his bagels toasted with butter to fully appreciate the bagel. Even I am not such a purist. I will eat these bagels toasted with cream cheese, jam, or even honey but I agree that the best way to enjoy and savour these perfect bagels is to eat it simply toasted with salted butter. πππ
After talking about food for our first 6km, we ran into the most beautiful sunset. It’s so great to be able to enjoy the beauty but I’m also sad to see the sunset because this means the days are getting shorter. #nofilter

Bridget had to go home for a video conference call (and needed to look presentable!) while the rest of us continued east until we hit Yonge Street. Benny was going to run home and then go to Metro to get bagels (#willrunforbagels) while Lisa and I ran toward the Starbucks near her house because we both got 50% off frappacinos on our Starbucks rewards apps! Starbucks FTW! (#willrunforstarbucksANDbagels)
Update: Benny actually got the bagels that night. π

…Bagel trip to the Original Saint Viateur Bagel, on Saint Viateur Street? It’s open 24 hours…. That’s dangerous, I know… haha. If you have never had them straight from the wood oven, it needs to be a bucket list item. As a lover of all things bagel, you have to make the pilgrimage :p. If you already have… then there is never a reason not to do it again, and again. I’m not sure if I would be considered a bagel purist… or a connoisseur. I’m more of a nostalgic bagel eater… I’ll eat any bagel, any way… but I always think fondly of the time when Saint-Viateur or Fairmount Bagels were just a 15 minute drive away. LoL. Now I am sad about the state of Toronto bagel culture… As for a favourite combo… toasted, cream cheese, smoked salmon, cucumber, tomato and pepper. Uggh… now I’m hungry.

Just go to Metro to get them! But you may have to fight Benny for them! π
