9 days into 2019, I’ve already broken my new year’s resolution of not signing up for too many races. I don’t know what happened but I just registered for 2 races in 2 days. I must check myself into a rehab program. Raceaddiction is real.
For the record, here’s what happened:
- Spring Run-Off 8k: I’m starting a new running club at work and I decided that the Spring Run-Off 5k or 8k would be the goal race for the group. Since I’ll be running ATB30K the week before, I was just planning to go and cheer them on vs actually running the race. However, since Jim convinced me to run Toronto Marathon, I’ll have to run 27km the day of the Spring Run-Off. So my plan is to run to High Park (20k) and then run the 8k. I even signed up for the pancake breakfast at the end. At least I’ll get a medal and pancakes for running 28km. Makes total sense to me. πππ
- Army Run: Sally mentioned it in our RunNinjas FB group. Anshul told me it’s the best race ever, especially the Commanders Challenge (5k+21k). It’ll be her 3rd time doing it and she said she wouldn’t miss it. She offered to give me a ride. I convinced Lisa to do it (it was an easy sell π). We can stay with Lisa’s aunt. I got a promo code. A few other Ninjas are also interested so this may turn into a ninja road trip. Again, makes total sense to me.
So that’s what happened. Totally rational behaviour. I don’t need to check myself into rehab after all. πππ
What?! Why would you set a resolution to sign up for less races?!!! π The Commanderβs challenge sounds like a precursor to Dopey. π
I agree. No rehab need it…but I just might be a tad bias. π

Yah, except not really because both races are on the same day. It’ll be like a 5k warm up and then a 21k race. π

Sometimes I read your posts & I’m like who is this lady? Why does she keep mentioning my name? Do I even know these people? Do I want to know them? What is she talking about?? I keep having these out of body experiences… Side effects of runaddiction??
