Today, Lisa and I did a 5km pre-run then did a 15km long run with the Ninjas. We ran to Edwards Gardens where there were flowers and an elephant π.

I brought an Endurance Tap for the run. It was very sweet but I liked how you can drink little sips at a time because there’s a cap. I also brought my own homemade endurance tap which was much more diluted. I liked both so I’ll continue to experiment with them.
In the morning, I had a sharp pain in my right foot (same pain that I had 2 weeks ago) but I took a risk and ran anyway. Thank goodness it didn’t hurt during the run. Instead, at about 15km, my neck started to hurt. π’ It’s actually been hurting since Tuesday. I’ve been taking pain killers every day and Jeremy has been giving me massages at night. Yesterday, I did a stretch and heard something pop in my shoulder and the pain went away. I thought that would be the end of it but sadly, it came back today during the run. I took an Advil when I got home and the pain went away again. Sigh. π£
We are spending the long weekend in Huntsville so I took a quick shower and we started to drive up. After a quick lunch in Bracebridge, we went to a beautiful beach in Huntsville for the afternoon. I decided to try swimming in the open water for the first time! It’s true that open water swimming is so different from pool swimming! It was hard to swim with the waves coming at me every time I came up for air. It was also a bit freaky not being able to see clearly underwater. The lake was pretty shallow and the water was actually pretty clear but it was still really dark because it was a cloudy day. My Garmin said I did 1km in 13 minutes which is obviously wrong. Apparently, this Garmin doesn’t track swimming (outdoor or indoor) very well. π We will have to do some more open water swimming before the Iron Girl next summer!

After doing this “duathlon”, I replenished all the calories I burned by consuming a giant poutine for dinner and a milkshake from Kawartha Dairy for dessert. π

Nutrition log:
- Pre-run: Honey Bunches of Oats with milk
- Mid-run: water, homemade Endurance Tap, real Endurance Tap
- Post-run: 3 peaches, Clif protein bar, grapes (during car ride), lamb burger with cream of chicken soup (Bracebridge)
I’m on the look out for a great deal on a multi-unit watch, I’ll let you know. Glad you went out on your first open water swim — there is quite a difference… but nothing you cannot handle ;). Ran two days in a row, think I found a hashtag to commit myself to for the next few months #findingNinja. Keep on pushing your limits, it lovely to read and see.

Well done for π in open water!!! You’re so ahead of me! You’re gonna have to leave me behind when we do the tri since the swim is first!! I’ll still be trying to get into the water when you’re cycling ππππππ
